I moved from Northern California, one of the most health care rich regions in the country - patients could get in with a new PCP the next day! I was shocked to arrive in Hampton Roads where the average wait time to establish with a new PCP was 6-9 months! If you need a sick visit? Go to the ER or Urgent Care. You want to talk about your thyroid and get advise about preventing diabetes? Make another appointment and we will see you in 3-6 months. Hit it off with your PCP? Sorry. They left the practice. It’s an unfortunately broken model, but we are here to change all that.
